Clash Royale celebrated its 1st anniversary yesterday and it gave us an opportunity to look into 2016’s Game of the Year.
Supercell’s Clash Royale has been adjudged the best game of 2016 in both the Android and iOS platforms (iPhone), beating the likes of PokémonGo, DC Legends and FIFA Mobile.
The game was soft-launched in some countries for iOS platforms on January 4, 2016. The game was soft-launched on Android for those same countries on February 16, 2016. Both platforms received a global release on March 2, 2016. Upon its release, Clash Royale became the most downloaded and top-grossing app on the U.S. iOS App Store.
The app is a freemium strategy game which lets users battle online, by dropping cards into their battlefields. The characters involved in the game is from the Clash Universe, and are the same as of the hugely successful game Clash of Clans. Players battle for crowns and gems, and form clans to play and fight for glory. The game has an overall average score of 4.5 out of 5 on the Google Play Store and an average score of 4 out of 5 on the App Store.
Apple announced winner for iPhone and iPad categories, but iPhone category is arguably the largest. The ranking list for iPhone is:

According to Google Play, DC Legends was the Most Competitive game whereas Little Big City 2 won the Most Irresistible game.
