The Animes to look out for in 2018

2017 was filled with a number of good anime series, OVAs, and movies. Some were up to my expectations, some were not. 2018 is also bringing in new seasons of hyped animes and also plenty of good new anime series and movies. So in no particular order, here goes my list of 10 anime series/OVA/movie I am looking forward to this year.

10. Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! Movie: Take On Me

Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai: Take on Me

Genre: Slice of Life, Comedy, Drama, Romance, School

Touka is also worried about Rikka not being competent enough to advance to universities in Japan. The gangs from the club suggested Yuuta, who doesn’t want to be separated, to elope with Rikka!! A runaway drama throughout Japan begins.

(Source: MAL News)

Kyoto Animation is starting this year with a shot of Rikka Takanashi’s Eight Grade Syndrome. I personally loved all the seasons of Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! (Love, Chunibyou & Other Delusions). The plot of this movie is pretty interesting and the visuals are just mindblowing. KyoAni’s works can never disappoint me.

Here’s the official trailer, just take a look at those awesome visuals.

9. One Punch Man 2

One Punch Man 2

Genre:  Action, Comedy, Parody, Sci-Fi, Seinen, Super Power, Supernatural

Saitama is back! But this time it is done by J.C. Stuff instead of Madhouse, who did the first season of the anime. Personally, I loved the first season of the anime and also read the manga. I hope that this season will also be good.

8. Shingeki no Kyojin Season 3

Attack on Titan Season 3

Genre: Action, Military, Mystery, Super Power, Drama, Fantasy

Airing: July 2018

I just can’t believe that it is getting a new season so fast. Both the earlier seasons have very good storylines and the openings were pretty good too. I still haven’t completed the second season, but I am pretty hyped for the third season. The official Teaser for Attack on Titan was nice. Do check it out.

7. High School DxD Hero

High School DxD Hero

Genre: Action, Harem, Comedy, Demons, Romance, Ecchi, School

Why am I excited? Cause I am a simple man. Nothing more, nothing less.

6. Dagashi Kashi 2

Dagashi Kashi 2

Genre: Slice of Life, Comedy, Shounen

We are getting more sexualized candy jokes. Yay! And also, the first season was very funny. I love the art style of this series. I am personally super hyped for this.

5. Citrus

Citrus

Genre: Drama, Romance, School, Shoujo Ai

Airing: January 6, 2018

Synopsis: Fashionable Yuzu imagined the first day at her new school she transferred to after her mother’s remarriage a bit differently; she didn’t know it’d be an ultra-strict and conservative girls’ school. So instead of a sweet high-school romance, she butts heads with the stern student council president Mei—who turns out to be her new stepsister. And she has to learn that hate and attraction are often not that far apart.

(Source: Yuri Project)

This is one of the new hyped animes of this season cause Shoujo Ai animes are rare this day. Personally, i like this genre so I’ll probably give it a watch.

4. Overlord II

Overlord

Genre: Action, Game, Adventure, Supernatural, Magic, Fantasy

I lost all hope in other world animes after I watched Sword Art Online. (In before enraged Kirito Squad hunts me down and kills me) Overlord, along with Re: Zero and KonoSuba restored my faith in the fact that other world animes can actually be good. (At least they don’t have an overpowered black swordsman)

3. Violet Evergarden

Violet Evergarden

Genre:  DramaFantasy

Airing: January, 2018

Synopsis: There are words Violet heard on the battlefield, which she cannot forget. These words were given to her by someone she holds dear, more than anyone else. She does not yet know their meaning.

A certain point in time, in the continent of Telesis. The great war which divided the continent into North and South has ended after four years, and the people are welcoming a new generation.

Violet Evergarden, a young girl formerly known as “the weapon,” has left the battlefield to start a new life at CH Postal Service. There, she is deeply moved by the work of “Auto Memories Dolls,” who carry people’s thoughts and convert them into words.

Violet begins her journey as an Auto Memories Doll and comes face to face with various people’s emotions and differing shapes of love. All the while searching for the meaning of those words.

(Source: Anime Expo)

From the moment I heard the news that this novel series is being animated by none other than Kyoto Animation, I couldn’t help myself from imagining the awesome visuals. But PVs were so good. I am super hyped for this one.

2. Fate/Extra Last Encore

Fate/Extra Last Encore

Genre:  Action, Fantasy, Magic

Airing: January 8, 2018

Synopsis: Waking up in a strange virtual world with no recollection of the past, Hakuno finds himself forced to fight for survival in a war he does not understand for a prize beyond value; the opportunity to have one’s wish granted. With only an enigmatic “Servant” by his side, Hakuno Kishinami will have to face both friends and foes in battles to the death in order to not only gain possession of a mysterious object known as the “Holy Grail,” but also to find the answer to the most important question of all: “Who am I?”

(Source: Type-Moon Wikia)

Fate is one of my favorite franchisee and Shaft is my favorite animation studio. Thus I am bound to be excited about the series. And at last, I’ll get to see Nero Claudius. UmU

1. Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card-Hen

Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card-Hen

At last, our childhood crush Sakura is returning to the small screen along with Tomoye and Li. The manga is good with more cute costumes and more card hunting adventures. I have huge expectations from them which I hope they can fulfill.

There are also other animes like Boku No Hero Academia Season 3, Kan-Colle Season 2, Fate Heaven’s feel Movies, Natsume Yuujinchou Movie and Karakai Jozou no Takagi San. So I hope the animes of this year and I wish you a Happy New Year.

Limitbreaker: A reality!

There was a rumour.

“There is a Universe where lives a mortal even a God of Destruction can’t defeat!” Although there were speculations, we finally saw it to be true. Jiren of Universe 11. Yes, the same Jiren whom we haven’t heard anything speak, finally let go, and all hell broke loose.

The rumour was true.

This week, there were two episodes released, back-to-back. And boy! it was thrilling, it was exciting.

SPOILERS UP AHEAD. READ AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION.

The previous episode had ended with Goku fighting Ribrianne, and we find them still fighting with Goku just testing the waters. The battle stops the moment when Jiren enters and shows what he’s capable of. Even the Gods shook at his might.

Even Beerus is shocked!

Belmod, the God of Destruction of Universe 11 urges Jiren to defeat Goku.

Goku began his battle with Jiren while increasing his own power. Goku starts making a mark when he reaches Super Saiyan God, and the battle truly begins at Super Saiyan Blue. But, still there was no significant effect. and Jiren had the upper hand, by a huge margin. Even Goku’s Super Saiyan Blue + Kaiokenx20 fails to have any impact.

Goku Super Saiyan Blue. The real battle begins.

Seeing the inevitable, Goku says he’ll use his trump card then and starts building the Spirit Bomb. When the spirit bomb unleashes, Jiren stops it with one hand only.

The killer Spirit Bomb!

Goku is relentless, and the ensuing tug-of-war with the Spirit Bomb destroys a big chunk of the arena and yet, neither of the side is defeated. Goku starts losing his stamina and Jiren was still far away from his full potential. Goku collapses into the Spirit Bomb and when the dust settles, he’s nowhere to be found. It was seen before that when fighters fall off the arena, they return to the gallery. As Goku hadn’t returned and wasn’t anywhere in the battlefield, there was only one thing to conclude – Goku had vapourised.

Further, since his own attack brought about his demise, Jiren wasn’t charged with any penalty. All hope was lost. Everyone else started to gather around Jiren to push for one last time. But lo and behold! The ground and the entire world of Void started shaking. Goku came back. He was reawakened and there was something different about him. A strange aura surrounded him and he was radiating an enormous amount of heat.

Limitbreaker.

They started fighting once again and surprisingly, Goku had gained a lot. Whis guessed the source of his power being the Spirit Bomb and Beerus exclaimed that Goku must have gained something called – Ultra Instinct, something even the Gods don’t have. Their fight was legendary, until Goku’s energy was exhausted and we were back to square one.

In the next episode, we will see Universe 6’s Hit face-off Jiren. Stay tuned!

Netflix’s Death Note: A disappointment

Death Nooo – A heart-broken fan.

Death Note is a widely popular Japanese manga written by Tsugumi Ohba, which later also became a highly successful Anime and has fans all over the world.

Death Note.   Image Credits – Viz Media/ Madhouse

It is about a Model Japanese student Light Yagami, who is depressed by crimes all around and the slowly rotting world. One day he finds a supernatural notebook, Death Note, which has the ability to kill the people whose names are written on it, within 40 seconds. The person dies with a heart attack if the cause of death is not mentioned. While writing the name the user must have the name and a face in mind, so that people having same names do not die. It’s then he creates a havoc all around the nation, with his new found ability to kill assisted by a Death God (Shinigami) –Ryuk. Then enters L, a highly intelligent detective, the only one capable enough to stop him, and thus begins a series of psychological warfare.

This epic Anime is being made into a Live action movie by Adam Winger that hits Netflix on 25th August. They launched it’s trailers and being an avid fan of the original Anime, boy was I disappointed!  Although the basic plot is same, there are huge differences from the original series. The names of the characters, their traits, everything has been altered. And when the number of dislike on a video is way more than the likes, chances are high that you are doing something very wrong.

Nat Wolf as Light Turner

The protagonist (Light Turner) played by Nat Wolff seems way off from the Light we see in the Anime. Light was a model Japanese high school student, until he found the death note. The composed intelligence and sinister in his eyes are missing completely in this version. He looks more like the grunge kid from the street. Moreover, he was the one with the plan and manipulated Misa, used her for his own benefit. He never cared about anyone, but in the trailer he seemed a bit dramatic and romantic with her. Also Mia (Misa) is seen influencing Light, but that was never the case. Light’s decisiveness and self assuredness are a defining part of his character, but here he needs push from Ryuk (who tells him to write the 1st name in the trailer) and later Misa.

Margaret Qualley as Misa Amane

Margaret Qualley plays the role of Mia Sutton, originally called Misa Amane in the anime, who is the Japanese version Harley Quinn, a cute but slightly crazy character, deeply in love with a sociopath, that craziness seemed missing here too. But what is positive here is that Misa is getting a lot more important role in the movie than she ever had in the Anime, which might turn out to be good.

Lakeith Stanfield as L

The most vexing was the casting of L. L is essentially a weird detective, a bit malnourished, devoid of sleep but extremely ingenious. He is a calm, deductive, perceptive and observant character. But the L in the trailer seems to be frustrated and angry and not to mention black.  He also seemed to be doing public appearances, when he is not sure how the killer gets to his victim, something I can’t even imagine the Anime version of L would even consider. He would never make himself vulnerable like that, he was always calculative and a step ahead, that’s what we loved about L.  So, let’s just try to be optimistic towards this huge miscast for now and let’s wait see them play out their part.

If that was not enough, Jeremy Slater (who wrote the screenplay of the Fantastic Four (2015) reboot) is one of the screen writers for the movie, and my expectations disappeared faster than Hogwarts goes through its defense against dark arts teachers.

The main plot of the Anime is dark, edgy and deals with the ambiguity of killing people for the greater good. Its main ploy as the psychological war between two equally intelligent characters, but the trailer seemed more action oriented rather than being intellectually oriented. So that dynamic between the main characters and the battle of wits might go missing too. Here in the trailer we see him being creative about killing people, accidents, ferris when bending etc, where as in the Anime he consistently killed people with heart attack, thus establishing his style and letting people know there is someone out there with the power to kill. Every serial killer has a signature style, which they use to prove that it is their kill. So without any signature style, I am not sure how they will establish Kira.

But then if they say that it’s their American adaptation, why are they using the word ‘Kira’. Light is termed as Kira by the people in the Anime, Kira is actually the Japanese pronunciation of the word Killer. So how are they incorporating that if this is completely based on American characters, is a big question.

Honestly, I don’t like the way it’s going at all.  As a fan such deviation scares me, as it might ruin the version and vision we have of the original story.

What a fan like me would have wanted to see, is a proper adaptation of the classic Anime, and with the budget Hollywood has, it would have been a dream come true. The only positive thing that the trailer has given us is Willem Dafoe as Ryuk. His voice seems perfect for the role.

Well, it’s too early to comment on the totality of the movie though, as it’s yet to release; and maybe, the characters might fit perfectly to the new adapted screenplay of the movie. Also, the people who are not that much into anime, might start to look into its legendary world.

To end this rant I’d say – part of me is saying “It’s just an adaptation, it’s not supposed to be the exactly same” but another part of me is dying in dismay.

What are your expectations of this? Let us know in the comments!

Gen2 Pokemons: A Personal Opinion

Gen2 is finally here! A whole bunch of 80 new pokemons are here. And that has even managed to bring out the trainers who were infrequent in tapping that ‘PokemonGO’ icon on their phones. And the Gen2-mons are not the only new to happen. With an au courant Pokemon catching screen and much easily accessible interface, the team at Niantic has once again proved why so many people flock towards this game.

It was really exciting when the shadows of the Gen2 Pokemons started coming up in the Sightings.

Courtesy – Niantic

Or maybe sometimes, the Sightings were completely dominated by the Gen2-mons.

Courtesy – Niantic

One of best thing about Niantic is that, in its update, it doesn’t always say what all has changed. Trainers were in for a surprise when the game flashed an extra 50 XP whenever they managed to catch a Pokemon with the first throw itself.

Courtesy – Niantic

Once again, we could see people coming out of their homes in large numbers and trying to catch a Chikorita, or a Totodile or maybe an occasional Xatu.

Courtesy – Niantic

Even the costume of the avatar was changed for the better.

Courtesy – Niantic

The game even throwed in an additional bonus of 100 XP when I managed to catch my 100th Pidgey, and that just made my day.

Courtesy – Niantic

With new evolutions to new berries and even special item needed for Evolutions, this game just turned a whole new leaf. The possibilities are endless.

N.B. Apparently, one can get 5 candies when they catch the second evolution and 10 candies whne they catch the third evolution.

What is your take on the Gen2 Pokemons? Which all did you catch? Tell us in the comments!

Top 10 Moe Anime

What is ‘Moe’? The answer depends on what you find as ‘cute’. Basically I call an anime as a ‘moe’ anime where cute girls do cute things and which makes heart go ‘paku paku’. Some people hate these kind of anime, whereas some people use this kind of anime as a source of life energy. Guess what, I am one of later. Thus here goes my list of ‘Top 10 Moe Anime’.

10. Acchi Kocchi (Place to Place)

Acchi Kocchi Characters

Synopsis:

Tsumiki Miniwa, a small girl who packs a punch, is in love with her best friend, tall and easygoing Io Otonashi. The only problem is that she can’t bring herself to come out and say it. And, despite the fact that he can otherwise read her like a book, Io doesn’t seem to be able to pick up the obvious clues—even with all of their friends teasing that there’s no one better suited for each other.

Acchi Kocchi follows Tsumiki and her circle of friends as they go through their day-to-day lives. Between Mayoi the electronics nerd, Sakaki the good-natured prankster, and the nosebleed-prone Hime, Tsumiki’s friends will never let her live down her crush. But only time will tell if Tsumiki will gain the courage to finally say how she truly feels.

Now what makes this anime so called ‘Moe’? Everything. From the cute love story between Tsumiki and Io, to the pranks and stupidity of Mayoi and Sakaki and the clumsiness of Hime and Sakuragawa-sensei. The opening and closing are both pretty upbeat. The animation is pretty amazing. Wait, there is more. What makes it really cute are the short Kindergarten parts at the end. It is adapted from the manga which is equally cute. So, if you dont have the time to watch through the whole series, give the manga a try.

9. Sansha Sanyou (Three Leaves, Three Colours)

Sansha Sanyou

Synopsis:

Futaba Odagiri is the new transfer student with a super energetic personality; Teru Hayama is the class president with a surprisingly mean personality contrary to her innocent looks; and Youko Nishikawa is from a formerly rich, now extremely poor family who still holds on to her princess attitude. These three unlikely students with clashing personalities become good friends and survive the day-to-day teenage life in a very funny story.

This anime is too cute. Specially the old but looks young ex maid Shino Sonobe and  the obsessive Yamaji Misugu makes this anime adorable. The friendship of the three main characters gives this anime a lot of ‘moe’ moments specially Youko’s bread crust eating and Teru’s dark side.

8. Anne Happy♪ (Unhappy Go Lucky!)

Anne Happy

Synopsis:

Tennomifune Academy is an elite institution for the best and the brightest, with the exception of Class 1-7, the so-called “Happiness Class.” Each member of the classroom copes with personal misfortunes, and the special class is geared to help them move past their issues and find true happiness.

After being accepted into the academy, An Hanakoizumi, Ruri Hibarigaoka, and Botan Kumegawa find themselves placed into the Happiness Class, plagued by dreadful luck, love problems, and bad health respectively. Alongside their classmates, they do their best to overcome the difficulties they are faced with in pursuit of a life filled with joy.

Basically this anime is a course of ‘How to deal with bad luck 101’. The opening ‘Punch Mind Happiness’ is a very upbeat track. Specially the chemistry between Hibiki and Ren is too cute. Its definitely a must watch for moe fans.

7. A-Channel

A-Channel

Synopsis:

Tooru and Run have been best friends forever, so when Tooru learns that she’s managed to get into the same high school as Run, she runs to tell her… only to find Run in a compromising position with yet another girl, Yuko. Needless to say, that makes things a bit awkward at school, with Tooru fending off those who might be interested in Run while Yuko and their other girlfriend, Nagi, have to deal with Run’s own penchant for drama.

The relationship between Run and Tooru is so cute. And Run’s justified torture on Yuko makes it more ‘moe’. If you haven’t seen this, give it a watch. It’s worth it.

6. Himouto! Umaru-chan (My Two-faced Little Sister)

Umaru Doma

Synopsis:

People are not always who they appear to be, as is the case with Umaru Doma, the perfect high school girl—that is, until she gets home! Once the front door closes, the real fun begins. When she dons her hamster hoodie, she transforms from a refined, over-achieving student into a lazy, junk food-eating otaku, leaving all the housework to her responsible older brother Taihei. Whether she’s hanging out with her friends Nana Ebina and Kirie Motoba, or competing with her self-proclaimed “rival” Sylphinford Tachibana, Umaru knows how to kick back and have some fun!

Himouto! Umaru-chan is a cute story that follows the daily adventures of Umaru and Taihei, as they take care of—and put up with—each other the best they can, as well as the unbreakable bonds between friends and siblings.

Only one thing to say about this anime- “It is bliss.”

5. Yuru Yuri! (Happy Go Lily)

Yuru Yuri

Synopsis:

After a year in grade school without her childhood friends, first year student Akari Akaza is finally reunited with second years Yui Funami and Kyouko Toshinou at their all-girls’ middle school. During the duo’s first year, Yui and Kyouko formed the “Amusement Club” which occupies the now nonexistent Tea Club’s room. Shortly after Akari joins, one of her fellow classmates, Chinatsu Yoshikawa, pays the trio a visit under the impression that they are the Tea Club; it is only once the three girls explain that the Tea Club has been disbanded that they can convince Chinatsu to join the Amusement Club—a group with no purpose other than to provide entertainment for its members.

Based on the slice-of-life manga by Namori, Yuru Yuri is an eccentric comedy about a group of girls who spend their spare time drinking tea and fawning over each other, all while completely failing to even notice the supposed main character Akari amongst them.

This anime has its highs and lows. Comprising for 3 seasons, this anime never failed to make me laugh. Specially the parts of the student council is worth mentioning. Last but not the least “AKARIN!!”.

4. Non Non Biyori

Non Non Biyori Characters

Synopsis:

Asahigaoka might look like typical, boring countryside to most; however, no day in this village can ever be considered colorless thanks to five students of varying ages occupying the only class in the only school in town. The youngest student is first grader Renge Miyauchi, who brings an unadulterated wit, curiosity, and her characteristic catchphrase, “Nyanpasu!” Then there are the Koshigaya siblings consisting of the quiet ninth grader and elder brother Suguru, diminutive eighth grader Komari, and the mischievous seventh grader Natsumi. The recent arrival of Tokyo-raised fifth grader Hotaru Ichijou, who appears overdeveloped for her age and thus naturally holds an air of maturity, rounds out this lively and vibrant group of five classmates.

Based on the manga penned and illustrated by Atto, Non Non Biyori chronicles the not-so-normal daily lives of this group of friends as they engage in their own brand of fun and frolic, and playfully struggle with the realities of living in a rural area.

Ren chon is too adorable. Watch the anime only for her. Nothing else. Just remember, there is another one following the same storyline i.e. “Non Non Biyori Repeat”. Both are absolutely adorable and to die for.

3. Lucky☆Star

Lucky☆Star

Synopsis:

Lucky☆Star follows the daily lives of four cute high school girls—Konata Izumi, the lazy otaku; the Hiiragi twins, Tsukasa and Kagami (sugar and spice, respectively); and the smart and well-mannered Miyuki Takara.

As they go about their lives at school and beyond, they develop their eccentric and lively friendship and making humorous observations about the world around them. Be it Japanese tradition, the intricacies of otaku culture, academics, or the correct way of preparing and eating various foods—no subject is safe from their musings.

What happens when Dad is an absolutely pervert? He will have a perverted child. The gags are very funny but sometimes pretty repetitive. But overall, this anime is definitely worth the watch,

P.S. There are twins in this anime. Do I have to convince you more?

2. K-On

K-On

Synopsis:

Hirasawa Yui, a young, carefree girl entering high school, has her imagination instantly captured when she sees a poster advertising the “Light Music Club.” Being the carefree girl that she is, she quickly signs up; however, Yui has a problem, she is unable to play an instrument.

When Yui goes to the clubroom to explain, she’s greeted by the other members: Ritsu, Mio, and Tsumugi. Although disheartened at Yui’s lack of musical know-how, they still try to convince her to stay to prevent the club’s disbandment. After playing Yui a short piece which re-ignites her imagination, they succeed in keeping their new member and guitarist.

Along with the tasks of school and homework, Yui begins to learn the guitar with the help of the other band members, experiencing many mishaps along the way. However, with the school festival drawing near and Yui getting stuck with her practice, will the Light Music Club be ready in time for their debut?

This is an anime we all have probably watched at some point of time. (If you haven’t do so before people judge you). Mio’s clumsiness is so adorable and so are Ritsu’s pranks. The opening and ending for all episodes are amazing. Consisting of two seasons and a movie, this anime is absolutely a hit.

But remember Ui is the best girl.

1. Gochuumon wa Usagi Desu ka?? (Is the Order a Rabbit?)

Gochuumon wa Usagi Desu ka??

Synopsis:

Kokoa Hoto is a positive and energetic girl who becomes friends with anyone in just three seconds. After moving in with the Kafuu family in order to attend high school away from home, she immediately befriends the shy and precocious granddaughter of Rabbit House cafe’s founder, Chino Kafuu, who is often seen with the talking rabbit, Tippy, on her head.

After beginning to work as a waitress in return for room and board, Kokoa also befriends another part-timer, Rize Tedeza, who has unusual behavior and significant physical capabilities due to her military upbringing; Chiya Ujimatsu, a waitress from a rival cafe who does everything at her own pace; and Sharo Kirima, another waitress at a different cafe who has the air of a noblewoman despite being impoverished.

With fluffy silliness and caffeinated fun, Gochuumon wa Usagi Desu ka? is a heartwarming comedy about five young waitresses and their amusing adventures in the town they call home.

This anime is too cute. People will disagree and say K-On is cuter. but just look at the ending sequence. Just look at it! Its so moe!!

This is my list of top 10 moe animes. Do you think agree with it? If you don’t leave your views in the comment sections.

DragonBall Super: Tournament of Power [Broly returns?]

Dragon Ball Super is seventy-seven episodes old now, which is more than the now “officially denounced” Dragon Ball GT with 64 episodes can boast of. Let us take a look at the preview of Episode 78, and see what it has in store for us.

We find that it will feature the highly anticipated clash of the 12 universes called “Tournament of Power.” Omni-King/ Zen-oh sama has reserved a seat for the first battle and is expected to be ruthless with whoever loses a fight.

Toei Animation is about to start a new arc with “Dragon Ball Super” episode 77 known as the “Universal Survival” saga. A preview for the new arc premiere was recently presented, and it highlights a deeply bored Goku who will persistently request for an inter-universe martial arts tournament.

It turns out that watching the “Tournament of Power” is not the only reason why Zen-oh sama is in attendance. The Gods of every universe will be mortified to learn that the king of the 12 universes has decided to punish whichever God will lose their battles by wiping out their world.

It has also been teased that Goku’s universe is up for the first battle and will have to face Universe 9. Upon learning what Omni-King has in mind as punishment, Goku will try to build an alliance with the best fighters possible.

According to the episode preview, Goku will reach out to Gohan. However, the latter hesitates to go with him to the Tournament of Power. Despite the possibility that Vegeta could skip the event, reports suggest that he will still join Goku in the end and so will Krillin.

In this cover picture, we actually get to see who the 10 fighters would be. Among the usual and obvious choices for the fighters, there are two faces which strike utmost confusion. One of them is Master Roshi – one who is powerful, but is no match for the likes of Goku and Vegeta. The other is Android 17.

Another interesting point to be considered is we see “Killer clown” as one of the fighters in this “Tournament of Power”. And guess what, he is the God of Destruction of another universe.

At last, we come to the most exciting part we see in the promo for the Universe Survival arc and also in the opening music of Episode 77. Female Broly. Fans might remember Broly as the Legendary Super Saiyan from the movies.

Here we find a woman transforming into the pupil-less, green-haired, Legendary Super Saiyan. Only time will tell what more we’ll have to be excited about.

Are you excited for the Tournament? Tell us in the comments!

Anime Starter Guide

The size of the anime community is increasing day by day in a high rate. If you want to keep up with the trend, here are some series you can start with.

The animes are generally divided into 4 major groups based on the target audience. They are ‘Shounen’ (Towards Young Males), ‘Shoujo’ (Towards Young Females), ‘Seinen’ (Towards Adult Males) and ‘Josei’ (Towards Adult females).

GENRE: Shounen
Anime: Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood

If you want to start with the ‘Shounen’ genre, you can start off with one of the classic franchisee, ‘Full Metal Alchemist’.

Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood
Synopsis:

The rules of alchemy state that to gain something, one must lose something of equal value. Alchemy is the process of taking apart and reconstructing an object into a different entity, with the rules of alchemy to govern this procedure. However, there exists an object that can bring any alchemist above these rules, the object known as the Philosopher’s Stone. The young Edward Elric is a particularly talented alchemist who through an accident years back lost his younger brother Alphonse and one of his legs. Sacrificing one of his arms as well, he used alchemy to bind his brother’s soul to a suit of armor. This lead to the beginning of their journey to restore their bodies, in search for the legendary Philosopher’s Stone.

This is one of the very classic animes. The character development, art, sound tracks and the story is mind blowing. Overall, it’s a pretty good watch. You can also watch the original series i.e. ‘Full Metal Alchemist’, but this story is better and more manga accurate.

GENRE: Shoujo
Anime: Akagami no Shirayuki-hime (Snow White with Red Hair)
Akagami no Shirayuki-hime
Synopsis:

Shirayuki was a young girl born with unique apple-red hair. She meets a famous but foolish Prince Raji, who falls in love with her at first sight and orders her to become his concubine. With nowhere else to go, Shirayuki cuts her hair and escapes to a neighboring country. While traversing through the forests, she meets a young boy, Zen, who helps her after she boldly cures his wounds but then gets poisoned by an apple given to Shirayuki. Meanwhile, Prince Raji sends out henchmen to search for her. What will happen to Shirayuki? What is Zen’s true character? A refreshing fantasy story between an optimistic heroine and a prince who constantly stays on her watch.

This anime is so heart warming that it gives you that gushy romance feel. The art is divine and so is the story. The coupling of these two characters is not forced (which is rare these days). With two seasons, this anime is surely one of the best romance animes out there.

GENRE: Seinen
Anime: Stein’s Gate
Stein’s Gate
Synopsis:

Steins;Gate is about a group of friends who have customized their microwave into a device that can send text messages to the past. As they perform different experiments, an organization named SERN, who has been doing their own research on time travel, tracks them down and now the characters have to find a way to avoid being captured by them.

This anime is awesome. The art is awesome. The slithering ray of hope and the wish to save someone makes this anime unique and divine. And Makise is just love.

GENRE: Josei
Anime: Nana
Nana
Synopsis:

Komatsu Nana moves to Tokyo, following after her boyfriend Shouji to gain a life she has always dreamed of. On a train bound for Tokyo, she meets Osaki Nana, the vocalist for the punk rock band “Blast”, also moving to Tokyo to achieve her dreams of becoming a professional. Sharing the same name, the two of them perhaps through a twist of fate, ended up becoming flat mates in Tokyo, where together they support each other through each of their love lives and careers.

Though the art style of Nana is a bit unconventional, still it is ideal to grasp the story of this anime. The story along with its sound tracks makes this anime very exciting to watch. A close contender in this genre is Chihayafuru, but Nana is better as per story goes.

After these four main genres of anime, lets peek into the other genres like Comedy, Romance, Fantasy, Horror and last but not the least ‘Moe’.

Here some of the animes will have overlapping genres, but they are one of the best in their particular genre.

GENRE: Comedy
Anime: Great Teacher Onizuka
Great Teacher Onizuka
Synopsis:

Onizuka is a reformed biker gang leader who has his sights set on an honorable new ambition: to become the world’s greatest teacher… for the purpose of meeting sexy high school girls. Okay, so he’s mostly reformed.

However, strict administrators and a class of ruthless delinquents stand between Onizuka and his goal and they will use any means, however illegal or low, to drive the new teacher away. Perfect, because Onizuka’s methods won’t be found in any teaching manual; he cares about the difference between legal and illegal activities about as much as he cares for the age difference between himself and a high school girl.

So get ready for math that doesn’t add up, language you’d be slapped for using, and biology that would make a grown man blush… unless of course, you’re the Great Teacher Onizuka.

GENRE: Romance
Anime: Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso (Your Lie in April)
Your Lie in April
Synopsis:

Music accompanies the path of the human metronome, the prodigious pianist Kousei Arima. But after the passing of his mother, Saki Arima, Kousei falls into a downward spiral, rendering him unable to hear the sound of his own piano.

Two years later, Kousei still avoids the piano, leaving behind his admirers and rivals, and lives a colorless life alongside his friends Tsubaki Sawabe and Ryouta Watari. However, everything changes when he meets a beautiful violinist, Kaori Miyazono, who stirs up his world and sets him on a journey to face music again.

Based on the manga series of the same name, Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso approaches the story of Kousei’s recovery as he discovers that music is more than playing each note perfectly, and a single melody can bring in the fresh spring air of April.

GENRE: School Life / School Club
Anime: Sket Dance
Sket Dance

In spite of this, they still throw all their energy into solving these worries.

Barakamon

The newest addition to the intimate and quirky Goto community only wants to get some work done, but the islands are far from the peaceful countryside he signed up for. Thanks to his wacky neighbors who are entirely incapable of minding their own business, the arrogant calligrapher learns so much more than he ever hoped to.

GENRE: Fantasy
Anime: Fate Stay/Night
Fate Stay Night

In desperation, Shirou summons a Servant of his own, a knight named Saber. The two must now participate in the Fifth Holy Grail War, a battle royale of seven Servants and the mages who summoned them, with the grand prize being none other than the omnipotent Holy Grail itself.

Kuroko no Basket follows the journey of Seirin’s players as they attempt to become the best Japanese high school team by winning the Interhigh Championship. Pokemon Duel: Gameplay and Review

After ‘Pokemon Shuffle’ , ‘The Pokemon Company’ introduces its second game ‘Pokemon Duel’. For those who havent played ‘Pokemon Shuffle’, it is a matching game like Candy Crush where the Pokemons use certain moves to decrease its HP and then catch it.

Now, let us see what ‘Pokemon Duel’ has to offer us.

The game starts off with a awesome sequence of graphics. Though the size of the game is around  50 MB, we have to download some extra files before we can start off with the game.

The Title Screen

After this a blue haired character named ‘Luca’ teaches us the basics of Pokemon Duel. The game mechanics is pretty simple. It is like a board game where who have to reach a certain goal and block your opponent from doing the same.

The NPC Character ‘Luca’

The board in pretty simple. You just fave to reach the flag of your opponent by moving the pokemons by their respective move points (MP). If two pokemons meet each then they can fight it out in a game of luck using a spinning wheel.

The Game Board

The numbers written beside each Pokemon is their respective move point i.e. the maximum number of places it can move. In the first turn, all MP is decreased by 1 as shown here. When your Pokemon reaches the opposite side, you win.

Winning in a duel

One of the most positive aspect of the game is the fact that you can partly design how your character looks.

Designing your character

There are options of online battling against other players and your friends and also battling in the quest.

Now to me, this game was below average, Though the graphics of the game is awesome, the main gameplay lacks excitement. It doesn’t take the Pokemon type advantages into consideration during the battle. ‘Pokemon Shuffle’ was a better game, according to me, So, what do you like and dislike about ‘Pokemon Duel’. Idol Jihen: Episode 1 and 2 Review

Genre: Music

Idol Jihen

What happens when Nico Yawaza runs for a seat in a parliament? She becomes a so called ‘Idol Dietwoman’. This anime doesn’t make any sense. The anime just doesnt make any sense. The art and the sound tracks are nice but who elects political representatives through Concert and stuff.

The anime starts off with scouting of Natsuki Hoshina by Sachie Kondou as a representative of ‘Herione Party’. After an audition only, Natsuki was selected as a representative. and after a lot of obstacles, she did a concert with Shizuka Onimaru and was elected as an idol dietwoman.

Natsuki jumping (Not to death, sadly)

If the first episode was not weird enough, wait there is more. Idol Bunjee Jumping to prove their worth. Like seriously, who came up with this story line. At least, they are giving a lot of thought in Shizuka’s back story.

I have seen a lot of animes. I have seen very good animes and also very bad ones. And Idol Jihen tops the list of very bad ones.

Frankly, I like anime where girls dance and sing to fulfill their dreams. Though Natsuki Hoshina is cute, still I can not watch this anime. I may be judging too prematurely, I may be wrong, but to me, this anime is not worth seeing according to me.

Natsuki’s First Appearance

The only redeeming quality is its opening track “Utae! Ai no Kouyaku” by SMILE♥X and its closing track “Respect” by with.

I hope something good happens in the next episode before I drop this anime for good.

How did you like this anime? Leave your views in the comment section.
