Spiderman: Homecoming

Spiderman returns home to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, after it’s much talked about debut in ‘Captain America: Civil War’. After the initial hype generated by Marvel and Sony by releasing a teaser the day before, the trailer attracted massive response from movie-goers and comic book lovers.

The trailer starts off with a shot of downtown Queens, New York City and cuts off to Peter Parker (Tom Holland) meeting Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) . Tony Stark plays mentor to Peter Parker and discusses about being an Avenger.

We see our Spidey stopping a robbery, where the goons are dressed as The Avengers.

In the next scene, we see high school Peter with his friend, Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon) discussing about Liz Allan (Laura Harrier), while Michelle (Zendaya) interrupts them. Comic book fans know Ned Leeds as Peter Parker’s close friend who once became the notorious Hob Goblin. Liz Allan is a frequent character in many Spiderman issues, while Michelle is rumoured to be Mary Jane Watson, Peter’s love interest.

We get the first look at Micheal Keaton’s Vulture who is the prime antagonist in this film. Vulture is looking menacing in this huge black costume and is far off interpretation from the comic books. Keaton, who has previously played Batman in Batman (1989) and Batman Returns (1992), described Marvel Cinematic Universe as a ‘well-oiled machine’.

We see film interpretations of other comic book villains-  The Shocker and The Tinkerer.

The biggest revelation in the trailer is the Spidey web wings, which is accurate from the comics, apart from his much talked about emoting eyes.

The main attraction of the trailer is Baby Groot. Rocket is in possession of a bomb that could destroy a major part of the galactic universe, and he’s trying to teach Groot how not to push the button. Looking for some tape, Rocket takes his eyes off the bomb for just one second, and Baby Groot is making away with it.

The trailer keeps the action intact, while keeping it hilarious in the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mix Vol. 2’.
